FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
- The National Pancreas Foundation (NPF) will hold its Courage for the Cure Gala on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 6:00 p.m.
- The Gala will be Dinner and Dancing with Live Music at the Circuit Center at Southside Works, Pittsburgh, PA.
- Jim Roddey, Former Chief Executive of Allegheny County, will be the Master of Ceremonies
- We will be honoring Dr. Mark Lowe, Director of Gastroenterolgy at UPMC’s Children’s Hospital. Dr. Lowe has been a member of NPF’s Board of Directors for 5 years and recognized internationally for his research into pediatric pancreatitis. He will receive the annual Courage Award.
- There will be a silent and live auction.
- NPF is a Pittsburgh-based non-profit organization established in 1998 to serve the needs of people with pancreatic disease.
- The Foundation’s three-fold mission is to provide patient support services, to fund medical research to develop a cure for pancreatic disease, and to increase the public’s awareness regarding these devastating conditions.
- NPF’s 2009 event raised nearly $150,000 for research and increased awareness.
- Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States with a 98% mortality rate – the highest of any cancer.
