Healthy Lifestyle Guide

The Healthy Lifestyle Guide is a very important section for us at The National Pancreatic Foundation.  We recognize quality of life is important to all of us, but certainly much more of a challenge for individuals, and their loved ones, trying to manage chronic illness.

Our goal is to provide support and information of all aspects of daily life-nutrition, medical treatments, pain management and practical tips.  For example, we are currently developing a comprehensive cookbook which you will be able to download soon.  This will feature over 200 recipes!

Below are some examples of delicious appetizers and main dishes which are extremely low in fat content and generally do not irritate those with pancreatic diseases.  However, before embarking on a new diet, exercise program or medical therapy, please consult with your physician.

Appetizers

Carrot and Sweet Potato Soup with Cranberry Relish
Lime -Spiked Black Bean Dip

Yeah! I’m so gald that a cookbook is being written for us. I know that I keep eating the same “safe” things and can be intimidated by foods that I don’t know if they are safe or not. I can’t wait!

Do you have a projection of when the cookbook will be available? My mother has just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and she is having trouble tolerating foods and finding good suggestions for recipes.

I am very interested to know the name of this cookbook and when/where it be purchased. My husband has chronic pancreatitis and is getting anxious and frustrated with food restrictions.

Is the cookbook almost finished, or is there any other information about it? There are so many differentpacreatitis guides on the internet and they all contradict eachother.

Do you have a date as to when the cookbook will be available for purchase? Right now I use a cookbook from the American Heart Association and it has some wonderful recipes, but I am always looking for new ones. I have been suffering with pancreatitis for 3 years now and try to stay under 25 grams of fat per day.
