Caren Byrnes

Caren Byrnes attended the University of Pittsburgh and then Chatham College where she earned a B.A. in Communications in 1980. She worked in the early era of cable television community access and earned a TEDDY award for one of her original cable TV productions. Relocating to New England in 1986 with her husband’s job transition, she worked in administration in the Office of the President of Digital Equipment Corp.

Stricken with pancreas disease in 1995, Ms. Byrnes underwent Whipple surgery in 2001. In 1998, she became a charter member of the National Pancreas Foundation at its launch meeting. In 1999, she was elected to the Board of Directors. Since that time, Ms. Byrnes has volunteered her time and creativity to the Foundation’s trade show activities.
