Susan P. Payne

Ms. Payne has known the Birsic family for many years and witnessed their abject loss and sense of frustration when Joan Birsic Dawson was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and died shortly thereafter. Shortly after the formation of the National Pancreas Foundation, her daughter was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis. This prompted her to learn more about diseases of the pancreas, what was being done to combat them, and to become actively involved with the Foundation.

Ms. Payne was elected to the Board in 2001 and has played a major role in helping to manage fundraisers to benefit the Foundation.  She has co-chaired the Pittsburgh “Courage” fundraiser since 2002. In addition to her Foundation work, she is involved in various community and church volunteer activities, works part-time at a fitness facility, and enjoys golfing.

Ms. Payne is a graduate of West Virginia University with a degree in Economics. She worked fourteen years for PNC Bank in Pittsburgh and was a Vice President in the Comptroller’s Office when she decided to stay at home with her children. She resides in Wexford, Pennsylvania with her husband, Dave.
