Funded over $2 million in 77 groundbreaking research projects that have led to an additional $12 million from NIH and other institutions and provided funding for projects leading to new discoveries, such as:

  • The first susceptibility gene for chronic pancreatitis discovered since 2000, and only the fourth overall
  • A genetic cause of familial pancreatic cancer – the Palladin gene
  • Supported countless cutting-edge researchers through NPF Young Researcher Grants
  • Helped more than 17,000 people per month access critical pancreatic information through the NPF website
  • Started online support groups for those with pancreatic disease, including one for children
  • Founded a pilot support program for patients and families in Boston
  • Planned and held patient education nights at major hospitals
  • Sponsored researchers’ attendance at important conferences
  • Held an international workshop on the Future of Research into Pancreatic Diseases
  • Held national symposia on Pain and Inflammation, and Diagnosing and Treating Chronic Pancreatitis
  • Held the NPF Fellow Symposium to Enhance Quality of Research in Pancreatic Disease for young researchers from around the country
