Children with chronic pancreatitis will experience ER visits, days of missed school due to hospitalization, and constant pain. Pancreatitis is a rare disease and when diagnosed, most parents and children have never heard of it.
“Being diagnosed with pancreatitis at 8-years-old was difficult because I didn’t know any other kids who were going through what I was going through.” -Lauren Smakosz
The National Pancreas Foundation and Rebecca’s Wish created Camp Hope, so children and young people suffering from pancreatitis, or post-TPIAT, can experience all the joys of camp without limitations. Camp Hope is also a place where they can meet to bond/build friendships in a fun and safe setting that includes camp activities such as swimming, archery, canoeing, fishing, crafts, and more.
Our first in-person Camp Hope event will be held on July 8 – 13, 2022 at Flying Horse Farms in Gilead, Ohio. This is for campers who are 8 – 15 years old. Travel stipends are available for those who need financial assistance.
Volunteer opportunities (medical volunteer, activity volunteer, camp counselor) are available and volunteers must be at least 19-years-old. DEADLINE TO APPLY: MARCH 25, 2022!
