What inspired you to run for the NPF? My personal battle with chronic pancreatitis. I’m running on behalf of all pancreas patients with the goal of providing some hope, encouragement, and inspiration for those going through the worst of times. Obviously, the NPF mission is something I’m passionate about, so I am honored to run for a great cause!
Three words that would describe you? Resilient, strong, courageous
If you had your own talk show, who would your first three guests be? Ellen DeGeneres, Jake Gyllenhaal, Melissa McCarthy
You are hosting a dinner, who would you invite? Hank Aaron, Chipper Jones, and the rest of my Atlanta Braves idols
If You Could Eliminate One Thing From Daily Routine, What Would It Be And Why? Diabetes — the blood sugar checks, insulin pump management, etc. It’s a 24/7 job that can be overwhelming, in addition to the usual everyday life activities.
What is your spirit animal? Tiger
Your go-to meal before a race? I don’t eat before running, but after a race, I can typically be found with ice cream, or cookies, or chocolate, or the closest dessert.
Favorite place to run? Or your happy place? My happy places are out running or at a baseball/softball field
Favorite race and why? The Marine Corps Marathon with Team Pancreas. It is an honor and privilege to run on behalf of pancreas patients and with such a great team of people committed to helping the mission of the NPF
What’s one thing about you that surprises people? I have been living without a pancreas for 5 years
