3rd Annual Patient Education Event

The National Pancreas Foundation Michigan Chapter and the University of Michigan will jointly host a 3rd Annual Patient and Family Centered Care for Pancreatic Diseases educational event

The main goals are to increase understanding of how pancreatitis and pancreatic surgery to decrease pancreatic function and impair nutrition; what resources and treatments are available for patients to improve/maintain nutrition; who is a risk for developing pancreatic cancer; and how care for pancreatic cancer involves a personalized medical and surgical approach. Experts from the Michigan Medicine/University of Michigan and the NPF will be on hand to share important information and answer your questions about pancreatitis, nutrition and pancreatic cancer. We will also discuss updates and resources available at the National Pancreas Foundation (the NPF) national office, the local chapter and the approved centers in Michigan.

The event is free and open to all physicians, patients and caregivers.  All are welcome to attend even if you have not registered however please keep in mind if you are not registered you may not receive lunch.

The main goals are to increase understanding of the immediate and long-term impact of pancreatitis on health, ability to function and work and medical coverage; to discuss the approach to complex care and to highlight causes and the approaches to chronic pain. We will also discuss updates and resources available at the National Pancreas Foundation (NPF), the NPF Michigan Chapter and the University of Michigan NPF center of excellence.

Donna Fox, RN, MSW, Director of Complex Care Program, University of Michigan will deliver the keynote address – “Navigating life and care with pancreatitis: Approach to complex care”.
