Suzanne Murray is married to Terry Murray who was once CEO of Fleet National Bank. They have five children and nine grandchildren. She graduated from Lincoln School for Girls in Providence RI in 1958 and Radcliffe College in 1962. Her involvements over the years started at Lincoln School where, after being on the board for many years, she was head of the board from 1990 to 1993. She is a former trustee of Radcliffe College and is now a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study. She was on the committee to nominate Harvard overseers and elected directors for three years in the early 2000s and chaired that committee in 2004. She received a Distinguished Service Award from Radcliffe and in 2005 received the Harvard Medal at the Harvard graduation exercises. Currently she is a member of the board of Sophia Academy, an inner-city middle school for underserved girls in Providence, RI.
In April of 2004, Dr. Andrew Warshaw removed a large, non-malignant islet tumor along with 15% of her pancreas and her spleen. And, happily, she is still here to tell the story.
